Filmmaker Justin Thomas On Black Film, Art and Activism - Q&A Feb 17th (7:00PM EST)

Celebrate Black History Month this February with a new app for filmmakers of color, and hear its creator talk about it live on 2/17: bit.ly/WatchWUFF10. Screening events continue on 2/24 with an encore of the rare James Baldwin film I Heard It Through the Grapevine, and shorts Profiled and Trouble Finds You.

The award-winning filmmaker and WUFF alumnus discusses the motivation for creating the Black Independent Filmmaker App to support filmmakers of color in the independent community. In addition, he will share stories behind his two documentaries Truth Through A Lens and Sophia Dawson: PURPOSE, and how social justice and activism are driving factors that inform much of his film work.

The Black Independent Filmmaker App provides a virtual platform to connect filmmakers of color in the independent film community, consolidating resources into a single app. It's for people in every field of film production, from directors/producers to editors and actors. Workers Unite Film Festival is excited to partner with Justin and the Black Independent Filmmaker App in 2021 and beyond.
